Soldiers from the AFM's 3 Regiment Combat Engineers Squadron were in for the unexpected today. They found a monkey in the proximity of Safi Barracks while they were performing their morning physical fitness training.

The monkey was seen sitting on a nearby wall observing the soldiers jogging, the AFM reported on its facebook page. One of the soldiers managed to catch the monkey and took it to Safi Barracks. It was eventually identified as a Vervet monkey, an old world monkey of the Cercopithecidae family, native to Africa.

The Animal Welfare Department was contacted and its officials called to pick up the monkey until the owner is found.
