Back behind bars
Lydon Cutajar, 22 of Cospicua was today jailed for seven months for breaching bail and assaulting and threatening his former girlfriend.
In its judgement, the court said it believed the version of events of Cutajar's former girlfriend (who had said she was punched by Cutajar in a nightclub. She also said he had threatened to burn her alive).
Magistrate Francesco Depasquale noted that Cutajar had three previous convictions involving drugs and aggression. He ordered the forfeiture of the €500 bail deposit and the personal guarantee of €2,500.

And what happens after the seven months, if that? Will this unsavoury character become fit to roam about freely? This is merely a slap on the hand.

Could somebody enlighten me about "personal guarantee"? If the person does not come up with that money, what happens? is his jail term increased or what?
