For the record... It's hair-raising

A fashion designer from Tokyo has showed off his 3ft 8.6in hairdo that Guinness World Records says is the tallest mohawk in the world.

Kazuhiro Watanabe, 40, says he has been growing the hair for 15 years. To make it stand upright it takes stylists two hours, one can of gel and three cans of hairspray. He said he wanted to grow the mohawk to rebel against the conformity of Japanese society.

Mr Watanabe has held the title since January 2011.

His appearance in Washington Square Park in New York City was to promote the newest version of the Guinness World Records book, which for the first time includes him.
