The police are investgating suspected arson in the ladies' rest room in the check-in hall of Malta International Airport.

MIA said that at about 3 p.m. its fire-fighters  were called in to control a fire in the ladies' public convenience in the Check-in Hall at the airport.

No one was injured in the fire, although the amenities within the area suffered considerable damage.

"From initial reports, it seems that the fire was not accidental and a toilet paper roll was purposely set on fire," MIA said.
