OBITUARY

CARDONA. On September 6, at Mater Dei Hospital, MARIA of Birkirkara, aged 58, passed away peacefully, comforted by the rites of Holy Church. She leaves to mourn her loss her husband Paul, her son Shaun and his wife Melissa, her beloved grandson Sven, in-laws, nephews and nieces, other relatives and friends. The funeral leaves Mater Dei Hospital today at 3 p.m. for St Helen’s Basilica, Birkirkara, where Mass præsente cadavere will be said at 3.30 p.m., followed by interment at St Bartholo­mew’s Cemetery, Għargħur. No flowers by request but donations to Hospice Malta, Balzan, will be greatly appreciated. Lord, grant her eternal rest.

SCIORTINO. On September 6, Fr JUSTIN, ofm, aged 69, passed away peacefully at the Franciscan Friary, St Paul Street, Valletta, comforted by the rites of Holy Church. He leaves to mourn his loss his brother friars of the Maltese Franciscan Province of St Paul the Apostle, his brothers and sisters, Carmel, Winston and his wife Mary, Louis and his wife Mary, Antoinette and her husband John, Miriam and Joe, nephews and nieces, other relatives and friends. The funeral cortège leaves the oratory of the Franciscan Friary in St Ursula Street, Valletta, on September 10 at 9am and will proceed to St Mary of Jesus (Ta’ Ġieżu) church, Valletta, where Mass præsente cadavere will be said, followed by interment at the Franciscan chapel at Santa Maria Addolorata Cemetery. No flowers by request but donations to the Poor Clares, St Julians, will be greatly appreciated.

BONELLO. In loving memory of LINA and RICHARD A. BONELLO who passed away on September 8, 2008 and September 12, 1993 respectively. Dearly missed by their daughters Sylvia and Dorothy and their families. Lord, grant them eternal rest.

FELLS. Cherished memories of IAN, today being the fourth anniversary of his demise. Always in our hearts and prayers. Power cuts

There will be power cuts as follows tomorrow:

Between 8.30 and 11am in Mġarr Road, Għajnsielem.

Between 2 and 4.30pm in Ta’ Mannu Street and Marsalforn Road, Xagħra.

Between 2.30 and 5pm in Mġarr Road and Ta’ Cordina Street, Għajnsielem.

Swimming ban

The popular swimming zones of St Paul’s Bay and Xlendi Bay have been closed off to swimmers because of a sewage outflow.

Signs were put up to warn visitors, the Environmental Health Directorate said.
