A man who bought more than €2,000 worth of tools by forging stolen cheques has been jailed for three years.

Angelo Tanti, 51, of Fgura, pleaded guilty yesterday to stealing Bank of Valletta cheques last month.

He also admitted to forging the cheques and using them to buy tools from five shops, relapsing and of committing a crime after being given a conditional discharge and a suspended sentence.

Police inspectors Angelo Gafà and Roderick Agius prosecuted.
