France’s international footballers have agreed to forego bonuses for friendly matches and will receive no bonus unless they qualify for the 2014 World Cup, French Football Federation (FFF) president Noel Le Graet said yesterday.

“The players will forego their bonuses for friendly matches, which is something at least,” said Le Graet.

“There will no longer be bonuses for the coming two years of competition. On the other hand, if we go to Brazil 30 per cent of the sum paid by FIFA will be given to the players who participated in qualification.

“This sum should amount to eight million euros, or about 2.4 million for the team.”

Le Graet also said that the annual saving of two million euros will go towards amateur football and the running of the federation.
