The government has presented a parliamentary motion to transfer the former medical school in Guardamangia to St Augustine College, allowing it to finally build its primary school.

The proposal is to transfer the property on a 99-year emphyteusis against an annual ground rent of €1,000.

In return, the Augustinians would hand over to the government the property adjacent to the school, where it had wanted its new school, on a 99-year emphyteusis for €900 a year. The government would then sub-lease the property back to them on condition it is not developed.
