Detention Services personnel are set to become permanent public service membrers following an agreement between the GWU and the government.

They will benefit from all the guarantees given to any other member of the civil service.

Workers were previously employed on a “precarious” contract, the GWU said, which could potentially be terminated with just a week’s notice.
