I refer to the editorial Give Public Access To Sites Like Is-Simblija (August 27). Lack of action by all the ministers concerned is resulting in growing frustration by those seeking public access to this site.
It appears that for 10 years these ministers have done absolutely nothing about this situation. Nor has any one of them ever tried to explain what they were actively doing to sort out this simple problem.
The Ramblers’ Association has been very active in this matter and we want to assure everyone that we will not rest until this footpath is opened to the public and access to this rural and national heritage site is once more unhindered.
All illegal signage, threats from dogs or individuals against anyone who walks there are an insult not only to the public but also to the minister who had this site restored with public money and to all the ministers that followed him .
I would like to appeal to anyone who has material related to Is-Simblija to contact the Ramblers’ Association at ram205@gmail.com. We are particularly interested in anything related to illegal signage, threats of any sort as well as photographic material going back to when the site was being upgraded in 2003.
All communications with government and non-governmental entities on the subject will be greatly appreciated.
