Otra Vez, with owners Aaron and Edward Gatt Floridia on board, was the overall winning boat of this year’s Ramla Bay Resort re-gatta, organised by the Royal Malta Yacht Club and again sponsored by Tommy Hilfiger.

The weekend racing took off on Friday with the keelboat passage race from Marsamxett to Ramla Bay in moderate wind which took the 16 boats taking part quickly to the north Comino channel.

The breeze was fresher on Saturday, providing some exciting sailing conditions.

The Racer classes had to do three round-the-cans races while Race Committee decided to have the Cruiser boats sailing to St Paul’s Islands and back.

Saturday was also reserved for dinghies with the participation of Optimists, Fevas and a Handicap Class, sailing on a trapezoidal course off Ramla Bay.

The last races of the weekend were held in light winds on Sunday morning and competition was followed by prize-giving at the Ramla Bay Resort before the keelboats sailed back to their berths in Valletta just in time before the evening storm set in.

The winner of the Ramla Bay Resort trophy and first in the Racer Class 1 was OtraVez.

Time Out (Mario Sant) was first in Racer Class 2 and Cahoots (Anthony Demajo) prevailed in the Cruiser Class.

In dinghy classes the winners were: Thomas Bonello Ghio (seniors); Matthew Micallef (cadets); Lacey Aquilina (novices); Michaela and Andre Mifsud (RS Feva); and Roberto Briffa (handicap class).
