Farsons’ new €12.5 million brewhouse will be inaugurated this evening by President George Abela. This is the third and final phase of a €40 million investment programme which included a new packaging centre for soft drinks and a new logistics centre. Both were inaugurated in 2008.

Construction work on the brewhouse started in July 2010 and was completed in 24 months. The project encompasses a malt handling tower, storage for raw materials, a rain water reservoir, a quality control laboratory, and staff offices.

State-of-the-art technology and automation in the new brewhouse will improve the current brewing process leading to further improved quality, productive capabilities and cost efficiencies.

The brewhouse project completes the master plan that started more than 20 years ago which involved a total investment of €100 million.

This plan provided for the phased re-development of the beer production facilities on a green-field site and a new process block and tank farm. This included computer-controlled processes and was inaugurated in 1990, with subsequent phases commissioned throughout the decade.
