Key health issues currently being discussed at the European level will be among the subjects of a seminar organised by the Malta Health Network and the European Public Health Alliance in Malta next week.
The half-day seminar aims to give participants a taste of what the EU does, what advocacy for better health means in practice and how Maltese organisations can take part.
The objective is to support Maltese civil society organisations to become more familiar with the EU and be able to lobby for issues and values they believe in.
The half-day seminar is targeted towards health activists, researchers, academics, social and environmental NGOs and volunteers, civil servants, trade unions, regional and local authorities.
The Malta Health Network is affiliated to the EPHA, which is made up of public health NGOs, patient and disease groups, and health professionals, working together to improve health and strengthen the voice of public health in Europe.
Irene Schembri, who has been on the Malta Health Network board since its formation five years ago, was recently elected on the EPHA board too.
The seminar is being held on September 11 at The Palace Hotel in Sliema and is free, but participants have to book in advance by contacting the Malta Health Network on info@maltahealthnetwork.org.
