We, the people of Tarxien, were very pleased that the late ex-Prime Minister Dom Mintoff formed part of our community for quite a number of years.

He passed away at his residence, Villa Olives in Triq Xintill. It is more than fitting that his memory be kept alive for future generations.

I would like to suggest to the authorities that Joann Garden should instead be called Dom Mintoff Garden.

After all, it was named after one of Dom Mintoff’s daughters who is still alive.

I think streets and other places should not be named after people who are still alive.

I presume that both Mintoff’s daughters would not object to having this garden named in memory of their beloved father. This is something that has been done in the past with various streets and places all over the island.
