Thirty-eight organisations and educational institutions were recently presented with agreements for projects that will benefit from a total of €712,000 worth of grants under the EU-funded Lifelong Learning Programme managed by the European Union Programmes Agency (EUPA).

Among the organisations benefiting are various state, Church and private primary schools, the Malta College of Arts Science and Technology, the Directorate for Lifelong Learning, the Malta Health Network, the Malta Confederation of Women’s Organisations, Caritas Malta Epilepsy Association and the Foundation for the Promotion of Social Inclusion.

Project themes include art and design, innovation and sustainability, well-being, social inclusion, active aging, active citizenship and the environment. These Comenius, Leonardo da Vinci and Grundtvig partnership projects were selected as a result of the call for applications which closed in February.

The agreements were presented by Stephen Spiteri, parliamentary assistant at the Ministry of Education and Employment.

The Lifelong Learning Programme is made up of four sectoral programmes – Comenius, Erasmus, Leonardo da Vinci and Grundtvig – offering a variety of opportunities including individual mobility, partnership and cooperation projects.

An information meeting will be held on Friday to explain the various types of activities that can be funded under both the Comenius and Grundtvig programmes for education staff working in primary and secondary education as well as adult education, and to answer any questions prospective applicants may have about the programmes, eligibility criteria and the process involved to apply for funds.

The meeting is being held from 9.30 a.m. to noon at the EUPA offices in St Venera.

To register, call 2558 6117 or e-mail eupa@gov.mt.

These initiatives are funded with the support of the European Commission’s Directorate General Education and Culture.
