Baby drowns in bath

A nine-month old baby girl died in a tragic drowning at a residence in Cospicua this afternoon.
Sources said the incident happened when the baby was left unaccompanied in a bath at around 4.30 p.m. The young mother, from Senglea, was with her daughter at a friend's apartment in the area known as Fuq San Pawl.
The girl is believed to have been taken to the Cospicua Health Centre before being rushed to Mater Dei Hospital.
An inquiry is being held.
