As a resident of Malta and Australia, I would like to recommend some measures to improve road safety and efficiency on Maltese roads.

These ought to be double-lane as far as possible, with numerous speed cameras located at critical spots. This will allow slow traffic or breakdowns without hindering the general flow.

Furthermore, a national speed limit of 60 kph should be introduced. Naturally, speed in villages and other places has to be limited to 40kph or 25kph as necessary.

It is very strange how the law does not permit the absence of speed camera warning signs.

Additionally, speeding offences should be punishable by a fine and demerit points – 12 points and losing one’s licence.

I recommend that the Police Commissioner contact his South Australian counterpart for further insights into this matter. I would be very willing to assist.

We need to eliminate deaths and accidents on our roads and the above are proven successful ideas in this direction.
