When I read in your report that the Nationalist Party was insisting with the Labour leadership that it should condemn Joe Grima for his comment regarding Fr Lucie-Smith’s repulsive article in The Catholic Herald on Dom Mintoff’s legacy, my instant reaction was - how can they have the cheek to expect the PL to ask Mr Grima to apologise to Fr Lucie-Smith, when Mr Grima wrote his comment on his own personal initiative, and is not an official of the PL?
When Fr Lucie-Smith went as far as to compare Mr Mintoff to Robert Mugabe, I think that the vast majority of those who read his article agreed with Mr Grima’s angry reaction, even if they may not have used the same language. This priest has insulted Malta and the Maltese.
Rather than showing Christian charity and love “even towards your enemies”, as the Catholic Church preaches, this priest has shown an acute lack of Christian charity and brotherly love. He too would have to answer to Our Lord for scaring away more sheep from the flock.
As far as GonziPN is concerned, have they ever condemned, or asked Daphne Caruana Galizia to apologise for the much more disgusting language she uses in her column and online commentary, directed not just at Labour leader Joseph Muscat and his family, as well as the PL, but also at Jeffrey Pullicino Orlando and Franco Debono in particular?
