I am in total disagreement with John Guillaumier (August 28) about Gozo Bishop Mario Grech. I say ‘hats off’ to the bishop and thank you for enlightening us.

Like Christ, he condemns the ‘wrong’ and appreciates the ‘good’. A bishop has a duty and a right to speak the truth and not to keep “a low profile.” May I add that regarding IVF and divorce, the bishops have imparted the teaching of the Church to the faithful and to society at large.

What is so “confrontational” about this? I once read that “when people reject a truth or an untruth it is not because it is a truth or untruth that they reject it. No, if it isn’t in accord with their beliefs in the first place, they simply say ‘nothing doing’ and refuse to inspect it.”
