WWII bomb detonated in Munich
Bomb disposal experts in Munich last night dramatically detonated a 550lb (250kg) bomb dropped from an American aircraft in World War II.
Construction workers found the bomb while demolishing an old bar. 2,500 people in its immediate radius were evacuated.
The explosion was heard across the city, reviving memories of the war. Sparks caused a fire in a nearby property.
The experts had decided it was unsafe to remove the bomb and render it safe elsewhere.

How many bombs are found in Malta (large and small) where the international press don't even bother? Only last year a 500 kgs bomb was unearthed at Mcast and the students and lectures were evacuated from the area. There was not even a mention in the world news! It makes you wonder, doesn't it?

Its in the press as it exploded and quite a sight to see. In germany they find bombs every single week but are usually all defused safely.
