Updated - Foundation says it is formed of true Mintoff supporters
The Labour Party and Dom Mintoff's family said this afternoon that they had nothing to do with the Fundazzjoni Duminku Mintoff and had not approved its setting up.
They noted that this so called foundation, which has not yet been registered, was sending unsigned appeal to several people, asking for money .
The PL said the only activities in memory of Mr Mintoff which were recognised by the party and the Mintoff family were those launched by the committee headed by Dr Toni Abela.
In a reaction, the foundation said it fell under no political party's aegis. It felt that everything needed to be said about Mr Mintoff, even what happened in 1998 as otherwise this would be a case of half truths.
"The foundation was set up by true Mintoff supporters who never abandoned him and who were never among those who called him traitor," the foundation said.
It said it had received support from members of Mr Mintoff's family.
The foundation said it is in the process of being registered as an NGO

One would have expected whoever spoke on behalf of the Foundation (one wonders if the name of the spokesman was not included in this report intentionally or unintentionally ) to explain the fact that in the original story it was stated that the patrons of these foundation are Mintoff's daughter, now that his (Mintoff's) family are stating officially that hey have nothing to do with this foundation.

And while everybody is debating Mintoff, foundation, Joe Grima, the PL and the rest, God knows what is going on around us within the GonziPN! How about informing us about the ID cards, why we still have the expired IDs when they are not even accepted abroad within the EU for example. Could this be the foul play for GonziPN to win the next election? How can a person register as a Gozitan resident when for work, tax purposes, elec bills, NI and the rest, one is then registered as a Maltese resident?
What about the many jobs offered on silver plates to blue eyed boys that?
What about the POWER of INCUMBENCY?

@ Ms. D. Galea
"The foundation was set up by TRUE Mintoff supporters ''
This could easily mean that this foundation (sic) is made up of just Mintoffjani, who still consider mintoff as is-salvatur and who may not be supporters of the lejburist party and of their "dear leader" joseph muscat at all. One must remember that "dear leader" joseph muscat supported alfred sant when the latter called mintoff "TRADITUR" at the Birgu Waterfront, and mintoff has never forgiven them.
Could be that mintoff's memory will haunt the lejburist party for ever for what it did to him in 1998.
Comments by mintoffJANA will be appreciated.

"The foundation was set up by TRUE Mintoff supporters ''
Does it mean that the other foundation is set up by FALSE Mintoff supporters?

"The foundation was set up by true Mintoff supporters who never abandoned him and who were never among those who called him traitor," the foundation said.
If this is a true fact ... Then well done keep it up ... it will be nice to have the good and also the bad things of this great politician. With this then we will have the true Biography Of this great politician. In other personalities Biography we have always heard just the good thing in him after his death....and all the bad things will be not said or been forgotten ...

Although I believe that Dom Mintoff had far more negatives than positives, I fully understand the true Mintoffians’ annoyance at the hypocrisy - including the eulogies and coffin kissing scene - we’ve witnessed since Mintoff’s death.

Can someone please explain. The report states "The Labour Party AND Dom Mintoff's family said this afternoon that they had nothing to do with the Fundazzjoni Duminku Mintoff"
So is this foundation different from the one reported about in this article: http://www.timesofmalta.com/articles/view/20120822/local/Foundation-to-honour-former-Prime-Minister.433852
which clearly states "The Fundazzjoni Duminku Mintoff will be led by Professor Josef Grech, with Mr Mintoff’s two daughters serving as its patrons.". Are there now two foundations honouring the ex pm?

Seems the PL are in damage control mode after the fiasco of the last couple of weeks. First Joe Grima and now the foundation - both situations being fuelled by the Mintoffjan rabble that has been simmering below the surface for many years. Now that the pot has boiled over the PL is trying to minimise damage by disassociating itself from its supporters. As the saying goes - you cannot eat your cake and have it.
Is the PL now going to renounce all the Mintoffjan rabble that was so vociferous on the blogs and comment boards?

Wow, if this was a fiasco what do you call the 8 month soap opera the PN has had with Franco Debono, JPO and Mugliett. PN apologists really amaze me, they fail to feel an earthwake within their own base and yet can readily spot an insignificant problem in the opposition. They are either thick or just plain naive. Stay put Mr. Borg because within the next 6 months you will experience the downfall of the damned PN party.
