A union representing cabin crew at Lufthansa, Germany's largest airline, has said its members will go on strike tomorrow after talks on pay and working conditions broke down.

UFO union chairman Nicoley Baublies said that the crews would strike for several hours but did not provide more specific details on exactly when the walkout would take place.

The strike at all German airports where Lufthansa has staff is expected to cause widespread delays and cancellations.

Mr Baublies said workers at airports outside Germany will not be on strike but cautioned that the action would still affect Lufthansa's passengers elsewhere, saying if planes are not leaving Germany "they won't be there to pick up guests".
