Traffic jams stretched for kilometres and took hours to clear up yesterday after a trailer truck overturned at about 3 p.m., forcing the closure of Aldo Moro Road in Marsa. Tailbacks went all the way back to Mater Dei Hospital, Msida, Pietà seafront, Portes des Bombes and Blata l-Bajda. The trailer, carrying a 40-foot container, overturned on a bend and came to rest on the pavement. The driver suffered serious injuries and was rescued from the vehicle by Civil Protection personnel using cutting equipment.
