George Azzopardi, 48 of Birkirkara, has been jailed for two months after admitting in court to having sent threatening letters to Dr Joe Zammit McKeon when he served as a lawyer in 2002 and 2003.

Dr Zammit McKeon is now a judge.

Magistrate Francesco Depasquale said that although many years had passed, this was a serious offence as this lawyer was at the time working as a court-appointed expert. In the letters Dr Zammit McKeon was threatened with death over a report he filed to the court.

Mr Azzopardi was also warned not to make any contact with Dr Zammit McKeon for 12 months.
