Still no traffic lights
Several months ago a traffic lights pole was put up in New Street, Luqa, which I thought would lead to the installation of traffic lights in this very busy part of the road.
As you can see from the photo, only one pole was fixed on the side of the pavement. On the other side, there is nothing.
Needless to say, the lights do not function.
From what I was told, people complained when it came to install the other traffic light pole, since it seems they didn’t want it fixed on the pavement, near their door, so the work was stopped.
I would have thought enough time has passed for things to be sorted out. Obviously, this was not so.
So New Street has been left without working traffic lights –although we have one pole erected, uselessly.

Surely, before putting up any such disturbling traffic lights(especially with road crossing facilites and accompanying loud beeping noises )or road signage outside a persons residence permission should and must have been prior obtained- and if not why not?-as then if no permission was sought the people have every right to complain and contest this siting.

why dont you suggest to the council to make that road one way, that way one pole would be sufficient.!!! for crying out loud if the road merits a traffic light then it should be put up no matter what residents say. be it on a pole or suspended by wires. whats wrong with these councils!!! or maybe it is election time and they either want to impresse the voters to vote for the Nationalist party or they have it in for this goverment and do nothing so they can brag that if the PL were in goverment things would get done!!!!
