Further to my letter (August 9), this was the second weekend running that the infamous open-air disco has reduced the volume. Although the music can still be heard, at least from where I live, it is at an acceptable level.

I wish to say well done to those who intervened – be it politicians, the police or some other divine intervention – where we can finally enjoy a good night’s sleep, undisturbed by loud noise.

On the other hand, perhaps the owners of these discos are now being extra careful to observe the conditions of their permits.
