• The feast of the Assumption of Our Lady is being celebrated in Żebbuġ today. Masses will be said at 5, 6, 7, 8 and at 11 a.m. At 9 a.m. Bishop Mario Grech will concelebrate Pontifical Mass with the parish clergy. At 11.30 a.m., marches will be played in the main streets of the village. At 6.15 p.m., Mgr Joseph Zammit will lead solemn vespers. The procession with the statue of Our Lady, led by Fr Mark Bonello, accompanied by the Santa Marija Band, starts at 7.15 p.m. The Leone Band will give a concert at the main square. The procession ends at 10.15 p.m. with a fireworks display and the sacramental blessing.
• Masses at Ta’ Pinu Sanctuary will be said today at 6.15, 8.30, 10 and 11.15 a.m. and at 5 p.m.
• The 21st edition of Logħob Żgħażagħ Vittorja, based on Malta’s history, particularly Xagħra’s, is to be held at Xagħra Square today at 8 p.m. There will also be games and dancing by various companies.
• The St Joseph Band Club of Għajnsielem will be exhibiting works by Emvin Cremona and Willie Apap. The exhibition, themed ‘Sacred Arts’, will also feature private collections. It will be inaugurated today at 7 p.m. and will be open daily until August 26, Għajnsielem’s feast day, from 2 to 10 p.m.
• On Tuesday, the St Joseph Band Club will inaugurate the Musical Archive during a vocal and instrumental concert, synchronised with fireworks. The event will take place at the main square at 8.30 p.m.
• A diocesan Marian manifestation will take place in Marsalforn on Thursday. The two aims of the activity are to give praise to Our Lady and to show the importance of a morally sane environment. The public is asked to be seated in Valley Road at 7 p.m. An animated rosary will be followed by a concelebrated Mass led by Gozo Bishop Mario Grech.
• The Lay Fraternity of Charles de Foucauld (Gozo) is holding a summer get-together on Friday, starting with Mass at 7.15 p.m., at the Salesian Sisters’ summer residence, Don Bosco House, Xwejni Street, Qbajjar, followed by a social activity in the vicinity. • The diocesan Eucharistic Movement will hold a prayer evening at Our Lady of Mount Carmel church, Ta’ Hamet, on Saturday at 8.30 p.m., followed by Mass at midnight.

• Xewkija council is organising the annual animal show at Ta’ Blankas Olive Grove next Sunday. Participants are to apply at the council.
• Xewkija council will revive the tradition of lighting a bonfire during the feast of the Martyrdom of St John the Baptist on August 29 at 7.30 p.m. at the village square.
