Maltese linguistic textbooks now available

Maltese linguistics textbooks Suċċessinu 1 and Suċċessinu 2 are being republished in time for the coming scholastic year. The first editions of the books, authored by linguistics and literature teacher Charles Saliba, were sold out.

“After major changes were recently made to the Maltese language ‘O’-level syllabus, I put together these two books to prepare students for the first paper and the second paper of the 2014 exam.

“The two books are perfect for anyone who has to teach, learn or administer the new ‘O’-level syllabus and get ready for the 2014 exam,” Saliba said.

Each book contains a detailed explanation of the examination paper; a time-management plan for sitting the exam; advice on writing and examples of essays, letters, e-mails and reports; notes on all the poems and prose in the syllabus and published in the literature anthology Bejn Ħaltejn; and plenty of exercises based on the anthology.

The books also include model answers in the form of essays and a detailed list of the figures of literary discourse with full explanations and creative exercises; guidance on the oral exam with notes on the Maltese linguistic culture and other current themes; five model papers of the oral exam; five models of the written exam’s Paper 1 and three models of the written exam’s Paper 2.

Answers are given in a separate section, making each book ideal for self-learning. These books will help students starting their fourth year in September 2012 gain a true appreciation of the Maltese language and literature while helping them pass the exam.
