When he released his 2007 debut album, I Created Disco, Calvin Harris actually created more than just the legendary dance music its title refers to; he basically unleashed a new pop sensation that would, in a relatively short time, snowball into the monster success he has been enjoying ever since.

A masterful singer, songwriter, producer and superstar DJ, the Scotsman followed up his initial success with another smash hit album, Ready For The Weekend, in 2009. Its chart-topping content essentially provided the soundtrack for clubbers everywhere while attracting a host of artists lining up to be touched by the hand of Harris, among them Kylie Minogue, Kesha, Dizzee Rascal,Ne-Yo, Kelis and Rihanna.

Harris is currently working on his third album, off which he has already released four smash hit singles – including the current collaboration with Example, We’ll Be Coming Back – and another featuring Florence Welch of Florence and The Machine lined up.

As yet untitled, the new album is slated for an October release, but before that, Maltese clubbers have the opportunity to party with Harris up close when he returns to Malta and takes over the decks at Numero Uno in Ta’ Qali this Friday.

Normal tickets for the event cost €35 and are available from Pull and Bear (Sliema, Valletta, Paola), Ryan’s Pub (St Julian’s), Fact (Qormi), Mr Signs (Gozo) or online at www.oii.com.mt.
