I hope other young people are reading this. Please don t take risks like these .Falling four storeys is horrible.Think of your parents and those who care.Hope the young girl recovers. If you get locked out there is help you can get.Having said this, when my son was 11 years old he fell asleep on the settee and he could nt hear me ringing the bell.So I called the Civil Protection. They were rude to me and accused me of running around and leaving my son home alone,It was not the case. But a kind friend drove me to my husband s .workplace and we got the key.So I hope that mine was an isolated case. There are still alot of kind people who will help you.Dont do anything foolish cos it my have tragic consequences.

Don't you think Maltese young people get into scrapes when they go abroad.? Don't you think their misdemeanours and irresponsible behaviour cost the locals money?
We're not the sole victims of youthful escapades, you know.

What really amazes me is why it took the ambulance 20 mins to arrive just across the road. For the record the incident happenened in the next block of apartments not Strawberry Fields Apartments

This reminds me of something similar that had happened. I used to live in a top Sliema apartment. I was away on holiday and my home help went to clean the balcony doors. By mistake she locked herself out by sliding back the door. Did she try something risky like this Lithuanian woman. No way. She hollered her head off, till somebody passing by noticed, called the fire brigade and they came with a fire ladder to take her down.
There is always somebody ready to help if you just ask for it. Falling 4 floors is no joke and we hope and pray this young women makes it.

I may assume that your help maid was not cleaning the windows at 2.30a.m., a time when the streets are probably all deserted....

Well no, not at 2.30, and not so many people are out, but in the dead of night, if you just shout for help in a street that is not wider than 12 meters, you will wake up half the street.

Mr Cauchi
Yes but if the incident happens in Sliema no one will come to help because:
Shouting at 2.30 am in certain parts is the order of the day and no one bothers any more. (mainly rowdy youths mostly foreigners)
AND the police never come when we call them anyway, so do you think anyone will bother?

We all do silly things at times but why should we have any sympathy for such crass and idiotic behaviour?
