More than 26,000 people went abroad in June, slightly more compared to the same month last year, the National Statistics Office said.

The NSO said that same-day visitors increased substantially, bringing total outbound visitor trips to 32,587.

It said that 86 per cent visited EU destinations, with Italy and the UK remaining the most popular among Maltese tourists, with shares of 31 and 20 per cen, respectively.

Almost all European markets recorded decreases, with the exception of the French market, which remained virtually unchanged.
