Debenhams has signed up as anchor tenant at Paola’s Main Street Shopping Complex which is in the final stages of a €2 million extension and refurbishment project.

Main Street has won customer approval in the region with more than 600,000 visitors every year. June alone saw a 14 per cent increase in footfall. With the opening of Debenhams in November these numbers are set to rise.

Main Street Shopping Complex opened in 2004 and currently encompasses an area of 2,862 square metres. With the completion of the new project at the end of the summer, it will have expanded by another 1,350 square metres and boast increased parking facilities. This €2 million extension, which began in December 2011, includes the installation of solar roof panels and a much larger façade. The extended complex will be inaugurated in November in tandem with the Debenhams store opening. There are currently 10 stores and a large computerised bingo hall. A café restaurant with a large terrace will open soon. Some retail spaces are still available.

Debenhams made its Malta debut in March 2010 when it opened its flagship at The Point in Sliema, offering women’s wear, menswear, home ware, fashion accessories, lingerie and children’s wear.

Debenhams at Main Street will offer the signature international retail experience. The brand is represented locally by United Department Stores Limited and subsidiary of the United Group of Companies.
