Fabio Psaila handed tougher bail conditions
A court this morning imposed tougher bail conditions on Fabio Psaila after an appeal filed by the Attorney General.
Mr Psaila is pleading not guilty to the attempted murder of two policemen and the attempted theft on a jeweller and his son in Attard, among a series of other charges.
The court agreed to double the personal guarantee to €20,000. The court also banned the accused from Qrendi, Attard, Naxxar and Rabat - areas where key witnesses live.

Our courts are unbelievably consistent in treating with extreme harshness anything related to drugs - including possession - and their extreme leniency on anything related to violence including murder! http://robertcallus.wordpress.com/2011/10/12/the-punishment-rarely-fits-the-crime/
A Nigerian was kept in custody for the possession of half a gram of weed! As if he's going to flee the country for a "crime" that rarely carries a prison sentence. A victimless crime that shouldn't even be a crime in the first place.
The man above is allegedly part of an organized ring of crime, tried to kill two police officers, has actually been on the run from the police for three weeks.
Guess who's locked and who's out on bail?

Presumably these key witnesses are not banned from the rest of Malta.

And a Nigerian gets remanded into custody for possession of a half gramme of cannabis?
To make matters worse, Gonzi thinks the judiciary deserve a 12k pay rise!
Sack them all. Start afresh.

Mr Scerri.... the nigerian has foreign ties and has the abilty to get out of the country. Presumably, Mr. Psaila doesn't have foreign connections, making it "safer" to grant him bail

Safer for who? Surely not for the honest citizen!
