Representatives of the Mission Fund recently presented €3,000 to Bishop Sylvester Magro of Benghazi, Libya, for the Church’s charitable services among the city’s poor.

Mgr Magro said that although Benghazi was spared the devastation of other cities, many locals lost loved ones in the conflict.

“The poor always remain poor, he remarked, “but it is very consoling and spiritually rewarding to be able to alleviate some of the hardships they have to bear, thanks to the fund’s generous donation”.

The fund supports hundreds of Maltese missionaries in 40 countries through regular donations sent on a roster basis for specific purposes.

Donations may be mailed to the Mission Fund at Eureka Court, Block A, Flat 6, Main Street, Mosta, or transferred to bank accounts HSBC 0441 0218 4001, BoV 400 1701 8951 or APS 200 0066 1295.
