I agree with Konrad Scicluna about the horse races. These races should not be held at Republic Street but at the race track at Ta Xhajma. The goverment should abolish these from happening again during the two feast at Rabat. I my opion, I do not think that the road is done. They have to seal the tarmac,or they do not care what happens? Good luck for the future.

I cannot believe permits have been issued for Horse races to be held in Republic Street on the newly laid tarmac. I do not know when it is realised that roads are for cars and not for horses. Closing the main road of a capital city is unbelievable! Especially when there is horse racetrack at Ta Xhajma.
I hope, really hope that at least if the authorities are unable to refuse the requests of the Victoria Band Clubs as regards to the traditional horse races during St Georges and St Mary’s feasts, they should at the very least stipulate that the entire road is covered with soil and cleaned immediately after the races with the clubs being held responsible for such an expense and / or for any damage. That would at least limit the damage that would surely be done to the new tarmac layers.
Furthermore a substantial sum of money should be paid the Victoria local council by the band clubs as a sort of compensation to the inconvenience caused to residents.
