Two accused over Paceville killing
Updated - Two men were this evening accused in court of the homicide of 47-year-old hairdresser Mario Galea, who was killed in Paceville early yesterday.
Joseph Zahra 28 of St Julian's and Brian Cini, 28 of Victoria both pleaded not guilty.
Galea is believed to have been beaten up before he was run over by a taxi as he lay on the ground in Paceville Avenue.
Lawyers Michael Schriha, Giannella de Marco and Gianluca Caruana Currana asked the court to ensure that the medical history of the victim is presented before it.
The court, presided by Magistrate Joseph Apap Bologna, ordered toxicological and blood tests on the victim and a physical examination of the accused. They are also to be seen by a psychiatric doctor since they are in a confused state and shock.
The two men covered their faces with a black cloth as they were escorted in and out of the court building. They did not seek bail and were remanded in custody.

The minimum requirement for Paceville is a strictly enforced 2am curfew and massive fines for bars that do not close on time!

Paceville needs the following if it is to continue:
1. enforced bouncer regulations and more police foot patrols.
2. a proper police station with lock up facilities.
3. a strictly imposed 2am curfew or 1,000 euro fine.
4. full disclosure of all owners of Paceville businesses - with no criminal ownership permitted.
5. businesses with a history of violence get ever increasing fines for violations, and eventual closure of businesses which ignore regulations/laws.
6. a hotline number for reporting trouble to the police station.
Will any of the above happen - I doubt it there are too many high ups making good money out of Paceville.

How long has this been going on in paceville? Don't you think something should have already been done?
Money, power, and greed are more important than lives of citizens.
Malta is way too lenient... More people need to die in order for anyone to take any action.

I would add spot checks on daily basis by Vat, ETC and Ird inspectors on the establishments that earn thousands of euros and I am sure most go undeclared, people working without necessary permits and others without the right working conditions.
The inspectors should be different people so they could not become friendly with the owners and get corrupted.

Nice way of paving a path to not guilt as a result of temporary insanity .
