A Colombian man who arrived in Malta carrying 52 capsules containing half a kilo of cocaine in his underpants yesterday has admitted conspiring to traffick drugs.

Alexander Restrepo Diaz, 36, a Barcelona resident, arrived on Tuesday after flying in from Eindhoven in The Netherlands.

Mr Diaz was intercepted by Customs officers.

During his arraignment yesterday, he admitted conspiring to traffick drugs into Malta, importing the drug and being in possession of the drug in circumstances that denoted it was not for his exclusive use.

Police Inspector Johann Fenech prosecuted.
