Greece coach Fernando Santos yesterday named a 21-man squad for next week’s friendly with Norway, leaving out Euro 2012 captain and scorer of the winning goal against Russia, veteran midfielder Giorgos Karagounis.

Karagounis, 35, is the most capped Greek player with 120 together with Theodoros Zagorakis, who captained the side to success in Euro 2004. He sent Greece into the quarter-finals of Euro 2012 after scoring the goal in a 1-0 win over favourites Russia.
