Billboards
If the Labour Party is hoping to win my vote next time round, then instead of hurling mud at the Nationalists all the time, it ought to explain why I should vote PL but its billboards say nothing about the party – they’re all about the PN.

Karl Consiglio: If you are a genuine critic- as you try to show - are you ready to accept my offer to arrange for you an appointment with Dr. Joseph Muscat, so that you may ask and discuss whatever you are curious about The PL's plans for the future ? I will be quite ready to accompany you. If you accept, just send me your contact details on: edyjoyce@go.net.mt. Regards.

But he has to promise not to mention Gonzi and just talk about his own party for three hours.

I'm beginning to think that Eddy Privitera (who always does his very best to avoid my comments) is the personal secretary to Joseph Muscat. He is continually offering "to arrange appointments" with dear Joseph. The irony is that while both did their very best to keep Malta out of Europe, Joseph has become more European than the Europeans, while the other used to spend whole days at the CNI office in Mosta hoping to take Malta out of the EU. Today the only voice against Europe comes from..........KMB.

johann Camilleri I will mention some of the PL violent past : air malta, sea malta, SGS factory, ene malta, tela malta, xandir malta,BOV,MID-Med bank, children allowance, pension, pregnancy leave, equal pay for women, vote for 18 yearsolds, free university and many more. Besides all these he left more than 1 billion of Euros for the PN to devour in the 1987 government. Be honest with yourself at least and grow up.

PL were not even going to let us have computers amongst other things, we would have wound up like Cuba. They used to control how much money we were allowed to spend abroad, can you imagine?

I can assure all readers that if labour wins the next general election, the situation would become worse than it was before 1987. Who cares about the deficit as long as we all have such a high standard of living. Ignore what all politicians say, but have a look around you and you'll have to admit that we can hardly have it better. After all winning six out of seven direct contests is no joke. Either the PN is so much better than the PL or the people are idiots. But they are not. They had a try in 1986 but as soon as they were given the chance they rectified their mistake in no time at all. And how! Take no chances because miracles do not happen so often.

Before putting pen to paper for similar comments, why don't you pay a short visit to the ARMS offices to see for yourself the pandemonium that the staff have to deal with as most families are not able to cope with their W & E bills even though they give the utmost attention to their W&E consumption. Then ask your nearby grocery shop about the long list of clients paying by monthly installments for their daily needs. Ask any of the teaching staff from the Mosta Primary school if they had pupils in their classes, naturally, before the Summer holidays, who went to school without lunch and did not afford to go outings against a small, mere payment. Do you know of any family who do not even go out for a Pizza over any weekend?. If you don't care about the deficit, please don't put me on your side. Wake up Giov and stop dreaming.

Giovann: Now tell us how many contests has Lawrence Gonzi won against the PL since Dr. Joseph Muscat took over the leadership of the PL ????? ISA, TISTHIX !!!!
Giov DeMartino
Aug 11th 2012, 08:52
@ Tony Mangion: NO ONE can cope with the W&E bills, but we all can cope with several luxuries: 2 vehicles for every 3 persons. The cost of the vehicle and the maintenance. Thousands of people spend E 4, 8, 12,16 A day ON CIGARETTES; regular holidays abroad; eating out at leats once a week, all places of entertainment always fully booked, MIllions, not thousands of euro contributed towards worthy and not so worthy causes, regular visits to the beautician, luxuriously furnished apartments...People spend more on mobile phones than on W&E bills. Pay a visit to any supermarket, to any pet shop, to the animal hospital at Ta Qali.....and see the poverty around us. But the funniest part of your comment is that clients are paying their grocery bills by monthly instalments! NO, no, no. A better joke: in Mosta some pupils go to school without lunch.

Don.t you think, M r Consiglio, if you want to be honest, that 25 consecutive deficits and 6 billion of debt tells you more about the the PN, than anything imaginable that you might want to know about Labour ?. I mean you have eyes to see and a mind to think: can any one mess things up big time like the PN did ruining the future of our young generations for decades to come? If labour is elected and things do not get worse, that in itself would already be a feat...cause really the financial situation is worse, much worse that the PN would like us to believe.....! Vote PN at your own peril!
Karl Consiglio

You see PL know nothing about the meaning of investment, never did and never will. You need to spend money to make money Peter!
Peter Simpson
Aug 10th 2012, 18:20
Well I'v heard a thing or two lately..for example that Malta's 50% plus of its exports come from a single factory ST Electronics set up by labour; could.n't your ' pro investment' government set one one factory like SG in 25 years? Or set up an Air Malta...let alone ruining it financially? I am a pensioner and if it were not for the bad Labour I would not have any pension...and guess who voted against the pensions? Your beloved PN!
Joe Muscat
Aug 10th 2012, 18:26
Wow! Consiglio...And did they Spend it!!!!
Peter Simpson
Aug 10th 2012, 20:24
@Karl Consiglio. On has to accumulate money in order to invest: not spend money, or waste money. Ask some old business man who made his business a success out of nothing....do you think he made money because he spent money or because he accumulated capital and invested wisely........his kids might boast of a better standard of living , but they would surely, easily forget, who started it all through sacrifice and perseverance:need we say more?
Karl Consiglio

Karl, first of all you ought to wake up to to-day's realities and not blindfold your trust in the P.N. vague words and fake promises. Fresh and energetic Joseph Muscat have already promised to reduce the utility bills to a more decent rate. Lift the Air Malta from it's disasteros situation, solve the problems in the shortage of medicins and patients waiting at the Mater Dei corridors. Looking after our Young Ones to find proper jobs or carry on with their basic educastion. The list does not end here.
Karl Consiglio
Aug 10th 2012, 13:41
Tony, re the utility bills don't you know that if you squeeze the tube from the right it will burst on the left, and if you press on the left it will burst on the right? JM never says how he plans to do things about anything.

Mr. Consiglio. What I find irritating is people like you asking for the PL's plans of our country if elected to govern. Why not ask Dr. Gonzi what he's going to do in the near future, for it seems he doesn't have an inkling of where he's heading. His top priority now being to survive the present legislature and nothing else. And to top it all he likes to play Santa with our hard-earned money. Come on, why not ask the PN the same question. I think it's as relevant as the question you're asking the PL!
Joe Busuttil
Aug 11th 2012, 11:40
GonziPN can't even plan for tomorrow, let alone for the next 5 years. You see,he has to consult JPO (and maybe Frankie too) before he announces his plans.
Karl Consiglio
Aug 11th 2012, 13:57
@Joe busuttil,
What you saying? Those guys behave the way they do because in actual fact he doesnt consult them and they're narcissists.
Joe Busuttil
Aug 11th 2012, 21:19
@Carl: So GonziPN doesn't need to consult JPO (at least) ? It's not what JPO said. And the whole country knows it. You just cannot bring yourself to accept it ,Karl. And as you said,Gonzi did not consult them. But then whom did he consult? Maybe RCC? (he was really running the show anyway.),And that's why he is detached from the people and reality.

At least the PL posters are stating facts about the PN administration. The PN posters are just conjecturing on what a PL administration will or will not do. Nevertheless, you can be an eternal optimist and hope that another PN administration will deliver all their undelivered promises.

@ Karl Consiglio.
Why don't you start by taking a look at the 51 points that Labour spoke of in response to the last budget. Maybe there, if your eyes are open, you might get a glimpse of why you should vote Labour.
Albert Farrugia
Aug 10th 2012, 10:45
OH really? What does the PN "Labour won't work" poster say about the PN? Or maybe those who are brainwashed believe that the PN needs to say nothing about itself since it is God's gift to humanity with a divine right to remain in power forever.
Johann Camilleri
Aug 10th 2012, 13:23
Nobody has a divine right to be in power forever Mr Farrugia, change is often good, unfortunately in Malta we have absolutely no alternative!
The Labour Party is an incompetent joke with a very nasty and violent past!
To make matters worse, not only does it rub salt into wounds by , not only not apologizing, but by insulting our intelligence and trying to rewrite history, it also keeps dragging up the past by embracing, as part of it's core, people responsible for that very nasty violent past!
Until labour learns it's lesson, cleans out the filth in it's ranks and gets a few competent people on board, it can never win the voters it's so desperately trying to win over , except temporarily like Alfred Sant did in 96.. Thhat only led to another 3 terms in opposition!
Karl Consiglio
Aug 10th 2012, 13:43
Well said Johann.
Pat Hobson
Aug 10th 2012, 14:28
@Johann Farrugia
"To make matters worse, not only does it rub salt into wounds by , not only not apologizing:" Apologizing? Well, when is Gonzi going to apologize to the Maltese people for stealing the 2008 elections? When is he going to apologize for the lies perpetrated about the Mistragate? When is the PM going to apologize for reneging on his promise for tax cuts? When the PM is going to apologize for giving himself and his clan the scandalous payrise? These are the apologies the Maltese people are expecting, not for what happened 30-40 years ago! Labour leader Joseph Muscat found no problem for apologizing of what happened in the past, even of no fault of his own! Let's see how much gentleman is Dr. Gonzi. Let's see when he's going to apologize to the Maltese nation for the daylight robbery incurred on the Maltese nation, in 2008!
Eddy Privitera
Aug 11th 2012, 08:32
Johann How do you know if Dr.Muscat hasn't been prime minister as yet ?
As regards the "filth in its ranks", you surely MUST BE JOKING ! The filth which exists in GonziPN surpasses the Maghtab Mountain by far !!!!!!!!
Take some time and just go over what GonziPN MPs and former MP have said and are still saying about this GonziPN maladministration !
Ramon Casha
Aug 10th 2012, 10:42
Actually both of them are, so far.
Mr Andrew Camilleri
Aug 10th 2012, 12:30
So in fairness sake, you should write again to the Times lambasting the PN on the same lines. Or are you waiting for further PN posters -"so far"?
Joe Muscat
Aug 10th 2012, 10:29
HAHA! Is this because PL's Billboard response to PN's 30 year old idea, has totally killed it? The Billboards say a lot....maybe some people don't like to hear the truth... As usual....head buried deeply in the sand....
