Parts of Gozo without power for hours
Residents of several localities in Gozo were without power last night - for several hours in some cases - because of a cable fault.
Enemalta said the fault developed at about 10.30 p.m. between Sannat and Fontana causing a power cut in parts of Sannat, Xewkija, Victoria, Xlendi, Munxar and Fontana.
Supply started to be restored at around 00:30 and by 1:40, Sannat, Xewkija and Victoria were re-energized through an alternative supply.
The corporation said that while inspecting the overhead lines to restore supply to the other localities, Enemalta employees noticed a high tension pole leaning towards a low tension cable.
They repaired the pole early this morning and supply was fully restored at 8 am.
Enemalta apologized for any inconvenience caused.

I wander whether Mr Fenech the minister would justify the instllation of the interconnector in this case as well.

I don't want to be a nuisance but the exact time when electirc power was restored - at least in the TAc-Cawla area in Victoria - was 1.55 am. I will never forget that because I had to try to sleep on the floor until the power was restored. It was a terrible night I will never forget! Its impossible to sleep without a fan or airconditioner on a night like yesterday's! God bless brother Winter!

And yet the PN apologists prefer to take us back 30 or more years!
Power failure is becoming the order of the day AND this after spending Lm 200 million for the Delimara Plant (still unpaid) and some €200 million for that of BWSC.
Meanwhile, the Marsa beast which was supposed to be closed down by 1994 is still there fuming black or white smoke - according to its mood!

A lot of know-alls, wiseguys and engineering "experts" wrote a truck-load of rubbish and banal trite when last Sunday ST Malta at Kirkop had a 15 hour powercut, suggesting "generators", "alternative systems", secondary work and God knows what else rubbish and nonsense. ST Malta consumes as much daily electrical power as the whole of Gozo - so I will wade in with the rubbish and nonsense and maintain that the Government should provide Gozo with a massive generator. Perhaps we can sacrifice Comino for this! The bottom line is that Enemalta is bankrupt financially and bankrupt of management (very much like the GonziPN). The very bottom, bottom line is that neither the GonziPN NOR the PL has bothered to engage a team of economists to work out the economic cost of ALL these powercuts to the national economy. But then who cares - as long as we have beer and pizza available - everything is fine.

Mr. Fenech, have you ever wondered why Enemalta is bankrupt? Back in the years Enemalta used to make millions in profit and this profit used to be taken by the government. When Enemalta needed money for new investment, the government wasn't there and it had to go to the banks for loans with high interests! Now don't come telling any PL / PN nonsense! I am talking about the Maltese government which is you, me and the rest of the population! Do you know how many millions Enemalta is owned by the business sector, by the ex dockyards? All money down the drain!

Does anyone ever say THANKYOU to the enemalta technicians who are on stand by 24/7 .
They have a risky job and sometime risk their own lives to see to people's needs.
I also know it's their job but is anyone of those doomers, gloomers and moaners ready to do it instead of them ?
Always grumbling about everything as if powercuts happen only in the Maltese islands and no where else in the whole wide world.

Mr Scerri,
I challenge you to name one single country where powercuts are as frequent as they are in Malta - excluding countries that suffer from catastrophes such as whirlwinds, cyclones, earthquakes or militate as "no-hope" countries such as Syria at the moment etc.. So go ahead and name them please and astound us as to where these international powercuts are taking place so we can draw consolation from the misery of others.

It's really a shame that here in Munxar we had to pass such a bad night because of the incompetence of those who are responsible for Enemalta. Apart from this is that no one was there to answer phone calls before 7.00a.m. this morning. I would like to know to whom did Enemalta apologized. Surely not to us living in Munxar and Xlendi
