Contrary to what the writer states in the last sentence of his letter Logic And Sense (July 31), he may wish to note that Transport Malta does not get involved in such operational issues.
Transport Malta does, however, look into issues that may cause delays on services, including driver changeover, and forwards all information gathered to the bus operator, apart from applying fines where patterns of delays occur.
However, it is up to the bus operator to decide where to carry out this changeover, as long as the location is adequate.
Transport Malta recently advised the bus operator that the changeover is sometimes taking too long. On average, it takes 40 seconds but, sometimes, takes up to three minutes, which is unacceptable, although it ultimately depends on whether the bus arrives at its destination on time or not.
