More matches live on TV

From next season, the live broadcasting of matches from the Championship in England will persist with a deal in place for the next three years that is worth £264 million, mostly from Sky TV.

Sky will also have exclusive rights to the Football League (the two other divisions), having just signed a long-term deal worth £195 million.

That, however, represents a 26 per cent reduction in revenue from the previous joint deal between Sky and BBC.

The new agreement will include the live transmission of 75 live league games, all play-off matches, 15 League Cup ties (that include the semi-finals and final) and selected Johnstone’s Paint Trophy matches.
