The Labour party has welcomed the restoration of the Manwel Dimech monument by the government.

In a statement, deputy leader for party affairs Toni Abela said this was only happening after the Labour Party had said it would restore the monument itself and had even submitted an application to Mepa.

Dr Abela noted that all other surrounding monuments in Castille Square had been restored.

He thanked all those involved in the restoration work.
