Eleven swimmers at the Blue Lagoon were this evening assisted by the Emergency Response and Rescue Corps Lifeguards when they found themselves in difficulty due to stronger currents.

The ERRC said that the swimmers had no strength left to reach land and they were pulled ashore by its lifeguards at around 5 p.m.

Yesterday, the ERRC also helped a person suffering from a dislocated shoulder.

It called on swimmers to check the colour of the flag attached to the lifeguarding tower before entering the water to minimise accidents.
