A 35-year-old Romanian who lives in Qormi was granted bail against a deposit of €500 and a personal guarantee of €10,000 after he pleaded not guilty to seriously injuring his Maltese girlfriend and slightly injuring her 12-year-old.

He also pleaded not guilty to relapsing.

Defence lawyer Renzo Porsella-Flores said that Caroline Bianco, his client’s girlfriend, had been living with the accused for a year-and-a-half and this incident started because his client looked at another woman.

Ms Bianco, he said, scratching his client’s face and hit her.

Mr Vasile-Cristian told the magistrate that all Ms Biano brought home was €60 a week against his €350. He also said he paid for everything.
