Podiatrist Alfred Gatt was recently awarded a Ph.D in Clinical Biomechanics from Staffordshire University, UK.

His doctoral research, under the supervision of Prof. Nachiappan Chockalingam, was entitled ‘Biomechanical assessment of passive ankle joint complex dorsiflexion’.

Dr Gatt has published articles in various international peer-reviewed journals, including Journal of the American Podiatric Medical Association, The Foot and Prosthetics and Orthotics International.

A former head of the Podiatry Department at the Department of Health, he now lectures at the University’s Faculty of Health Sciences.

He is a founder member of the Diabetes Foot Research Group, which was set up to research diabetic foot disease in Malta.
