Two traffic fatalities in second quarter

There were two traffic fatalities in the second quarter this year, the National Statistics Office said.

The NSO said that the number of reported traffic accidents in the second quarter reached 3,741, almost at par with the corresponding quarter last year.

The largest increase was registered in Gozo.

On the other hand, the southern harbour district registered the largest decrease (7.5 per cent) in traffic accidents.

In the period under review, 438 traffic casualties were reported, of which 250 involved drivers. These included 214 slight and 34 grievous injuries.

The injuries sustained by two drivers, one male and one female, proved fatal.

I agree with everything you have said George but you know as well as I do that nobody from the authorities will read or take note of anything that is on these forums. They are totally blind to what needs to be done to at least rectify some of our concerns. If the police used 'Q' cars (undercover) then maybe the number of accidents involving people driving like lunatics or using mobiles could come down.
Also if there were some explanation of what 'driver lost control' actually meant when written in the press it would maybe clarify why some accidents happen.

Mr. Attard I agree with you 100% about undercover patrol as they do in .the U.K. I lost count of how many people I see using mobile , and I say that half of the accedents are due to this.
P.S nobody is listening , as usual but stiill good luck
