Rats, mosquitoes and insects have infested Marina Road in Kalkara after sewage works carried out by the Water Services Corporation took more than three months to be completed, the local council complained yesterday.

An open pit of drainage water was allowing these pests to take over the road opposite the regatta club where residents were trying to take refuge from the heat, the local council said, in an appeal for action.

Works being carried out by the Water Services Corporation have been going on for three months, it complained.
