Work on the €7 million Salini rehabilitation project is well underway, the Rural Affairs Minister said this morning.

The project, which will see the Salini return to a salt production site, is earmarked to be concluded by the end of next year.

Speaking during a visit to the site, George Pullicino said that besides the resortation of the salt pans, the project will also include the restoration of a building which dates back to the knights that will be transformed into a visitors' centre.

A museum is also being biult where visitors would be able to follow an explanation of salt production at the different salt pans around Malta.
