A new garden has been inaugurated in Pembroke.

The garden was inaugurated by Prime Minister Lawrence Gonzi who said the government was increasing open spaces to improve families' standard of living.

Tourism Minister Mario de Marco said the project was partly financed by European Regional Development Funds that were being administered by the Malta Tourism Authority.

€20 million ERDF funds were allocated to the garden, the St Paul's Bay promenade that was inaugurated last year, the National Aquarium in Qawra, the walking/cycling track in the north and the restoration of the Madliena Tower.
